We all complain about our prison systems. People commit crimes and are sentenced to X years in prison where they sit on their asses/get degrees for free/bulk up/make new connections. All while we pay for their clean clothes, three square meals, and the roof over their heads. Almost makes you want to commit a few crimes, huh?
And yes, I have also heard the argument that illegal workers are doing the jobs that Americans don't want to do. Psh, whatever yo. There are plenty of people that would have no problem scrubbing toilets or picking fruit if it meant their families would have food and shelter.
So here is what I propose. Prisoners no longer get a free pass through life. They are issued clothes, fed, and receive a lovely 8X8 cell. But they work for it. Their jobs are the ones 'Americans don't want to do': working the fields, cleaning the toilets, and whatever else it is people think are only suitable for people here illegally. Of course, there would have to be restrictions on the workers/prisoners. But think back to the good old days of chain gangs. Guards on horseback with shotguns and hunting dogs!
If the prisoners were suddenly workers of the crap jobs, the illegals would have no reason to be here. Theoretically. The work they usually found was already taken. So that whole 'helping us' thing would be gone.
And there you have it. Two birds. One stone. Problem fixed. You are welcome.
** Disclaimer: I am not racist! I have no problem with people entering my country to find a better life. I do have a problem with people doing hat illegally and screwing up my country's economy. If you want to live here, go through the process to become a citizen. And yes, I believe if you commit a crime, you should serve the time. I also believe there are some people that should be locked up forever or be executed. Yes, I believe in the death penalty!
There is my solution.
